My name is Ms. Komal and I am an ECE II and very passionate about my work at RHCC. Born and raised in Punjab, India, I moved to London, Ontario, in 2020 after completing high school to further my education. I pursued the Early Childhood Education program at Fanshawe College and later relocated to Winnipeg with my brother. I have a deep love for working with children and brings four years of experience in the field of early childhood education. Outside of work, I enjoy music, camping, exploring new cuisines, reading, summer walks, and cherishing time with her family.

My name is Ms. Nav and I am a child care assistant. I am looking to grow my knowledge in the field. I graduated as a medical laboratory technician in my home country of India where I became fond of children as I practiced in the pediatrics department in hospital for 1 year. I moved to Canada 3 years ago where I completed a program of secretarial studies in medical from Montreal, Quebec. I speak English, Hindi, Punjabi and basic French. I am an energetic and creative childcare provider with a passion for fostering children’s growth and development. I love to teach the children and read them books. I love to bake, swim and ride horses in my free time, as well as spend time with my family and friends.

My name is Ms. Lexi and I am the Reggio-inspired educator here at RHCC. As a child, I dreamed of becoming an Early Childhood Educator who could encourage and celebrate children’s individual interests and achievements. I graduated with honours from Red River College Polytechnic’s E.C.E. program in 2021 and have been loving every moment of supporting children’s learning and development. Living in Manitoba my whole life, I love to explore the outdoors through fishing, hiking, swimming, and camping, and have become familiar with many different kinds of insects, which she loves to show and share with young learners. I love to speak and sing in French, and I am an avid artist who enjoys using natural materials to create.

My name is Ms. Julia and I graduated from the University of Manitoba in June 2023. Since then I have been committed to making a career as a Montessori teacher here at our center. For as long as I can remember, I have had the goal of working with young children, the development of their growing minds is fascinating to her. Growing up in the neighborhood, a block from RHCC, I have a special place in my heart for the community. The favourite part of my day is seeing all the children arrive in the morning, getting greeted with hugs and listening to the children’s stories of their time with family. In my spare time my hobbies include baking, looking after my dog Millie and cat Fig as well as spending as many weekends at my cottage on Lake of The Woods as possible. I am thrilled to take on her new role as a Montessori Teacher in training in Preschool 1. I will be starting my official Montessori certification course, September 2024.

My name is Ms. Claudia and I have been working in education for more than 10 years. I started my career as a primary teacher back in her home country of Colombia, then moved to Australia where I completed my Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I have just completed my ECE II Training in Manitoba and got my Canadian Permanent Residency. My first language is Spanish and I love to learn and know more about other cultures and languages. I have a great passion to educate and teach children. I am creative, very positive and a lifelong learner. I love exploring the great outdoors, whether it’s hiking scenic trails, camping under the stars, or cruising on my electric scooter. I think that each adventure offers me a chance to connect with nature and enjoy the freedom that the open air brings.

I enjoy being part of every child’s developmental growth at all of my centres as it gives me a sense of fulfillment as their care provider. I love spending time with families and friends and look forward to meet more students and their families at the centre.

My name is Ms. Isha and I have recently joined the Child Care team of River Heights and I have been having the time of my life since then. I hold a Ph.D. in English Literature and I am passionate about sharing many many stories with the children. I used to be an Assistant Professor of Literature in India and loved to teach and learn from young orphaned children (voluntary work) back home which is why I always expect to get the best perspectives from children. I believe that the innocence of children is an unmatched force and that they have the energy, curiosity and imagination to bring anything to life which is why it is really fun to be around them and see the world from their point of view. I love reading, visiting historical and cultural sites and painting in my spare time. I adore animals and look forward to adopting a dog soon. I see a bright and happy future in child care and will be completing my CCA course soon because I love stories and there’s nothing better than being a part of someone’s childhood memories.

My name is Eniola, or Eni for short. I am an Early Childhood Educator originally from Nigeria. I recently completed my Early Childhood Education (ECE) program at Robertson College, building on the foundation I established during my first year at the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology.
I chose this career path because I love working with children and enjoy watching their development process. I enjoy reading books, listening to music, watching movies, and playing the guitar in my free time. I’m excited to have fun with the children as they learn, and I look forward to meeting all the new children and their families.

My name is Ms. Tara is an ECE II and I have my Montessori Teaching Diploma. I am excited to complete my studies to become an ECE III. I enjoy following the children’s lead in their learning and looks forward to the fun each day can bring. In my spare time, I compete in a rec volleyball league, love doing escape rooms, play Ticket To Ride games, and spend time with her partner, Jordan, her twin, and family & friends.

My name is Natasha Slawik and I am the Director at River Heights Child Care. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am a mom, wife and educator. I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and first visited Winnipeg in 1997 as a Rotary Exchange Student. I returned to Winnipeg a year later to pursue a post-secondary education and to make Winnipeg my home. Shortly after I completed my studies in Winnipeg, I was fortunate to become a Canadian citizen. I attended Red River College where I obtained my Early Childhood II certification. After a few years in the field I decided to pursue my ECE III certificate and completed the Advanced Leadership Diploma through the University of Winnipeg. I am extremely passionate about my career choice as an Early Childhood Educator. I have been in the field for the last twenty years as a frontline worker, supervisor and a director. To add to my development as an educator, in February 2020, I got my training to become a facilitator in Circle of Security. This is a world recognized training program that teaches about the benefits of secure attachments between children and caregivers. I gained a thorough understanding of how early learning and childcare professionals can meet a child’s emotional needs and create a secure relationship with that child. I have also completed 6 levels of American Sign Language through the Deaf Centre of Manitoba. My husband and I have two amazing and energetic boys. Matthew is in Grade 9 and Ethan in Grade 7. Outside of work I have become an avid fan of their hockey. As a family we love spending time exploring the outdoors and creating new memories. I enjoy cooking, reading and walks with our dog Copp.
